Orthodontics
The purpose of orthodontics is to treat any type of malocclusion or “bad bite.” Malocclusion means that your teeth, lips and / or jaws don’t line up the way they should. As a result, your teeth may be crooked, your bite may not work correctly, and your jaw may look unbalanced.
Why Is Treatment so Important?
There are lots of benefits of having healthy teeth and proper jaw alignment. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease and lead to tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can sometimes lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain. One of the most obvious and destructive side effects of crooked teeth is a loss of self-confidence.
At what age can orthodontic treatment start?
It is most common for children around the age of 8 and up to begin orthodontic treatment. But it is never too late to attend to your smile. More and more adults are turning to orthodontic treatment to correct a bad bite or other appearance problem that has bothered them for most of their lives.
Although most adults seek orthodontics for cosmetic reasons, many also seek treatment because of jaw dysfunction, excessive wearing of teeth and gum or hygiene problems. Our approach is to concentrate on achieving harmony for your teeth, jaws and face.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on your personal orthodontic needs, it typically takes 18 to 30 months to complete
Dental braces are used to straighten crooked teeth, align upper and lower jaws, and improve your smile.
Traditional Braces (Metal Brackets)
Traditional braces usually take a few months less time to correct your bite than ceramic braces. Metal braces are usually the most economical option.

Ceramic Braces (Same color as teeth)
Clear ceramic brackets are available for those who do not want their braces to be noticeable. Ceramic braces consist of clear, ceramic brackets and function just like traditional braces. Because the brackets are virtually clear, only teeth are visible.

It is very important to maintain a good standard of oral hygiene. You may need to visit the dentist to have your teeth cleaned professionally every 3-4 months during treatment.
